Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
Happy Easter Monday!
BONUS #1 -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MuNf70eV6sY - Sims 2 Machinima for
tiny tots, created especially for the "One Minute
Movie Challenge" at the Machinima Talk Forum. An
shortened version of the children's classic song, "A Teddy Bear's
Picnic". Sung by Gilbert Russell and music performed by
the BBC Dance Orchestra. (Filmed June '06)
BONUS #2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6aYISHiiXA&feature=related - same song, regular length set to a delightfully goofy comedy video from teamparodee: "We had a teddy bears picnic but Mrs. Norris thought he was too old to play with the teddys."
BONUS #3 -
My Teddy Bear
My aunt bought me a little bear
The Christmas I was five.
He had such nice soft fluffy fur
I played he was alive.
I put away my toys at night,
Except my bear I keep,
And always hold him close to me
When I am fast asleep.

HEALTH UPDATES:
1.
Herb Hice
of MI:
From Sepi Dinwiddie Prichard ('58) of NC -
03/24/08 - "Herbie
and Family":
Dear Carol and Typhoon Family,
I spoke with
Heidi (Hice MacKay - of MI) this morning and not a lot of progress has been
made in Herbie's condition since last week. He has some good days and some bad
days; the doctors caring for Herbie are just taking a wait and see approach and
playing it by ear day by day. Heidi said some days he is only off the ventilator
for an hour, some days as much as nine hours.
The family appreciates our prayers and are grateful to the Typhoon Family for hanging in there with them. Since Herbie has made no secret of his love for opera and classical music, I made a suggestion that she speak with the rest of the family and then ask the doctor in charge if Herbie could have an MP3 player with his beloved music. This helped my own father when he was so ill and not responding to much of anything. My dad did respond to the music and before long was trying to reach the controls to adjust the sound. It is said that music is soothing to the soul and healing to the body. From then on when my dad was in the hospital we would hook him up to the then Walkman, and it did him so much good because he could be in control of something, which gave him a sense of hope, when he was not in any condition to hope for much. Heidi said they had not thought of that and that she would discuss it with her family and the doctor; she thought it was a good idea.
She requests that we not stop praying, which I am sure we won't...Herbie is a
part of us....turn that music up, Herbie !
Dimples aka Sepi
Thank you so much, Dimples!
We
all appreciate so much your staying in close touch with Heidi each Monday
morning. That darling Herbie is deeply missed by so many, and we anxiously await
the day when he'll be back home on his computer to spread more joy to us all
with his notes and images!
And what an excellent idea! I
certainly hope that his physicians will agree to it!

From Judy Phillips Allen ('66) of VA - 03/24/08 - "Update on Jerry":
Jerry's last
radiation treatment was Friday. Friday night, we celebrated with some
good friends and went out to dinner. We had a wonderful weekend with
friends and family.
OHH, thank you, Judy!
Good news is always - well, GOOD NEWS!

03/23/08 - "Osteoporosis - Bone Density Tests and Good News !":
Hi Carol, and Typhoon Family
Perhaps you can find room in the Newsletter for this. My sister-in-law, a Nurse
Practitioner, sent it to me and I found some comfort in this after having my
bone density test, after which I was advised me to take one of the medications
for Osteopina to prevent any further bone loss. My General Practitioner said
there was no need for this type of medication for me, and just said to get
plenty of calcium and to take heavy doses of Vitamin D. Your personal physician
can tell you how much for your individual needs. I thought all of us need this
information and so just click onto this link below and read the good news.
Perhaps it will save some of us some money and help us to eat a healthier
diet.
Men can also be affected by this problem. Thanks for passing
it on. The Newsletter is the best way I know how to let every one else know
about the things we should be aware of !

Thank you again, Dimples!
As so many of us are at high risk
for this crippler, it's good to have as many facts as we can gather!

From Joyce Lawrence Cahoon ('65) of
VA - 03/23/08 - "SOMETIMES IT PAYS TO BE OLD":
An elderly couple was celebrating their sixtieth anniversary. The couple had married as childhood sweethearts and had moved back to their old neighbourhood after they retired. Holding hands they walked back to their old school. It was not locked, so they entered, and found the old desk they'd shared, where Andy had carved "I love you, Sally." On their way back home, a bag of money fell out of an armoured car, practically landing at their feet Sally quickly picked it up, but not sure what to do with it, they took it home. There, she counted the money -- fifty thousand dollars.
Andy said, "We've got to give it back."
Sally said, "Finders keepers." She put the
money back in the bag and hid it in their attic.
The next day, two police men were canvassing the neighborhood looking for
the money, and knocked on the door.
"Pardon me, but did either of you find a bag that fell out of an armoured car yesterday?"
Sally said, "No."
Andy said, "She's lying. She hid it up in the attic."
Sally said, "Don't believe him, he's getting senile."
The police turn to Andy and began to question him.
One says: "Tell us the story from the beginning"
Andy said, "Well, when Sally and I were walking home from school yesterday . . "
The first policeman turns to his partner and says, "We're outta here."

From
Glenn Dye
('60) of TX - 03/24/08 - "Driver's
license":
A mother is driving a little girl to her friend's house for a play date.
"Mommy," the little girl asks, "how old are you?'"
"Honey, you are not supposed to ask a lady her age," the mother replied. "It's not polite.'"
"OK," the little girl says, "How much do you weigh?"
"Now really," the mother says, "those are personal questions and are really none of your business."
Undaunted, the little girl asks, "Why did you and Daddy get a divorce?"
"That is enough questions, young lady, honestly!"
The exasperated mother walks away as the two friends begin to play.
"My Mom won't tell me anything about herself," the little girl says to her friend.
"Well," says the friend, "all you need to do is look at her drivers license. It is like a report card, it has everything on it."
Later that night the little girl says to her mother, "I know how old you are; you are 32."
The mother is surprised and asks, "How did you find that out?"
"I also know that you weigh 140 pounds."
The mother is past surprised and shocked now. "How in heaven's name did you find that out?"
"And," the little girl says triumphantly, "I know why you and daddy got a divorce."
"Oh really?" the mother asks. "Why?'"
"Because you got an F in sex."If you see someone without a smile today give them one of yours!
WILD GIGGLES!!!
Thanks, Glenn!

That's exactly what struck me, too, Captain. Its loss is understandable - but ever so sad.

Teddy Bears Picnic
Music by John Walter Bratton (1907), with lyrics added later by the prolific songwriter Jimmy Kennedy (1913)
If you go out in the woods
today
You're sure of a big surprise.
If you go out in the woods today
You'd better go in disguise.
For every bear that ever there was
Will gather there for certain, because
Today's the day the teddy bears have their picnic.
Picnic time for teddy bears,
The little teddy bears are having a lovely time today.
Watch them, catch them unawares,
And see them picnic on their holiday.
See them gaily dance about.
They love to play and shout.
And never have any cares.
At six o'clock their mommies and daddies
Will take them home to bed
Because they're tired little teddy bears.
If you go out in the woods today,
You'd better not go alone.
It's lovely out in the woods today,
But safer to stay at home.
For every bear that ever there was
Will gather there for certain, because
Today's the day the teddy bears have their picnic
CHORUS
Every teddy bear, that's been good
Is sure of a treat today
There's lots of wonderful things to eat
And wonderful games to play
Beneath the trees, where nobody sees
They'll hide and seek as long as they please
Today's the day the teddy bears have their picnic
CHORUS
