Dear
Friends and Schoolmates,
As incredible as it seems,
there is yet more sad news which we somehow missed this morning.
Dorris Raines Dudley,
mother-in-law of Donna Lucado Dudley ('69) of VA, passed away in
Gloucester on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at the age of 90.

From Linda Lane Lane
('64) of VA - 04/03/08 - "Did You Know":
Dale Lucado ('68 - of VA) sent me an e-mail telling me about the
death of
Dorris Dudley. She is the mother-in-law of Donna Lucado
Dudley ('69 - of VA). Mrs. Dudley was the RN for Dr. L. S. Cowling
for many years. She became a friend to many patients of Dr. Cowling over the
years. With the office being on our block, we saw her almost daily. She was
a remarkable lady.....
Thank you,
Linda, I did not realize this was one of "ours".

Dear George and Brenda, I am sorry to learn of your mother's passing. During her employment with Dr. Cowling, she began a long friendship with our family that lasted many years. She was a great nurse and friend. I know you will miss her. She brought comfort to many and I hope that comfort is felt by you today and the coming weeks. |

MR. DUDLEY, DONNA & FAMILY, SO SORRY TO HEAR OF THE LOSS OF YOUR MOTHER. I ONLY MET HER A FEW TIMES AND SHE WAS ALWAYS A SWEET AND KIND LADY. MY PRAYERS AND THOUGHTS ARE WITH YOU. GOD BLESSED HER WITH A LONG LIFE, AND I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THE DAY SHE DROVE UP ON THE CURVE AT THE DRIVE UP AT THE GRAFTON BRANCH. SHE THEN WAS SO DETERMINED TO KEEP HER INDEPENDENCE AND I COMMEND HER FOR THAT. SHE WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED. FROM WANDA AT BAYPORT CU. |

Servant of God, Well Done!
Words by
Charles Wesley (28 Dec 1707 - 29 Mar 1788)
Music by
George J. Elvey (27 Mar 1816 - 9 Dec 1893)
(The Methodist Hymnal, 1966, #288)
Wesley wrote this hymn in 1770 on
the occasion of the death of clergyman George White.
Elvey's tune, "Diademata", has been set to several other hymns, notably "Crown
Him with Many Thorns" and "Soldiers of Christ, Arise".
Servant of God, well done!
Thy glorious warfare’s past;
The battle’s fought, the race is won,
And thou art crowned at last.
With saints enthroned on high,
Thou dost thy Lord proclaim,
And still to God salvation cry,
Salvation to the Lamb!
O happy, happy soul!
In ecstasies of praise,
Long as eternal ages roll,
Thou seest Thy Savior’s face.
Redeemed from earth and pain,
Ah! when shall we ascend,
And all in Jesus’ presence reign
With our translated friend?
