Hi Carol:
I am not sulking. I am just a W Va.
redneck living in cowboy land. I am not very computer savvy so I do the
best that I can.
I have another True Confession to make, James. There are words which my brain automatically scrambles for no good reason. I will invariably say "August" when I mean "April" and vice versa. And now I seem always to say "skulking" when I mean "lurking" - although I never say "lurking" when I mean "skulking" - hmmm... Anyway, the
point I was trying to make in my response to
I need to wait until they ask to be added before I sign them up - as you're doing now - or they come after me, guns toting and nooses swinging. As for being computer
savvy, we do have several - perhaps many - in our midst who (having been
trained or not) are truly phenomenal in their skills and knowledge.
The rest of us just middle through. When I began this web site in
July of 2000, I could barely open my email, and simply dictated to my #5
son
I am glad that we survived Driver's Ed too..... since Judy Leggette learned how to back-up without laughing....The coaches are proud and happy.... May they rest in peace.
It was just like HAPPY DAYS T.V
I would love to join my fellow typhooners
with the newsletter.
You may add me to the Birthday List also if
I decide to keep having them..
So SIGN ME UP.....James <Slim> Long Class
of 56
And that I've now done! So welcome, James! We're glad you're here! http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/alumni-list.html Send me your date of birth, and if you decide to continue having them (and, optimistic soul that I am, I always expect a Big Parade for my own birthday - GIGGLES!!!), we'll add that to our Birthday Page: http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/Happy-Birthday.html Thanks, James!

1956":
| Hi Carol, The Class of NNHS 1956 is once again asking you for your assistance (and the assistance of all the “missing persons experts” we have who visit your site daily) to assist us in locating the following “lost” classmates. We have exhausted all leads that we have so far, but I know someone out there can help us. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!!! |

From Jean Poole Burton ('64) of RI - 04/14/05 - "Songs running around in my
brain...`":
| You have a magic shower that sings you
songs...I have pieces of songs running around in my brain every now and
then...this drives me crazy until I can identify the title, the singer, the
year, etc. They are usually from the '60s of course and even though all the
algebra and chemistry and most of the history have over the years pretty
much left my brain...for some reason these songs remain!
So I was thinking of this piece of a song..."Sweet Sue was a havin' fits...if you don't give me the deed to your land I'll blow you all to bits"..."and then...he grabbed her...and then...he tied her up...and then...along came Jones" (I thought it was along came John)...well thanks be to Google...we found the song and we even were able to purchase a CD (it was sung by the Coasters who also sang "Charlie Brown" and a few other hits...and were able to purchase it on E-bay! Now I can sleep at night...until the next piece of a song starts to haunt me! Jean, you're a hoot! I used to have that problem of songs in my brain until the spring of '89 when so much of my brain left me..... Now I primarily must rely on external sources. This sounds like a Newsletter theme proposal to me, so don't be surprised if Along Came Jones makes it to our Newsletter pages in the near future. (The mind boggles at the graphics possibilities.....)
Thanks, Lady! Happy Easter!

Carol......
Dimples Dinwiddie (what a neat name) was in my class ('58) but when I looked in the '58 yearbook she wasn't with the senior pictures? So I went back to our junior pictures in the '57 book and there she is on page 73. Maybe her family moved away or something? Surely she wouldn't have dropped out of school........people didn't do that in those days did they? Joan Thank you, Pretty Lady!
And yes, ma'am, they did it all the time - especially if they happened to
get married...... Keep reading..... |
From Sharron Wanderer Dawes ('61) of VA - 04/13/06 - "RE: Dimples Dinwiddie":
| Dear Carol, In the 1956 Anchor: Dimples is on page 58 She is in 10th grade. In the 1957 Anchor: Dimples in on page 73. She is in 11th grade. I don't see her in the 58 Anchor.
Ja, that's where I spent an hour
looking........ |
|
By the way, Sharron, when I was in eighth grade in 1961, you were a senior,
and I recall your being mighty pretty yourself!
Thanks so much for your
help!

From Jim Cobb ('66) of VA - 04/14/06 - "
E. C. Cullen - NNHS Class of 1966":
| Carol, I received this note from E. C. Cullen (Class of 66) and I believe he wants to join the exchange of information about what's going on in our classmates lives. See below: Hi guys, How's the world east of the Mississippi? Good, I hope. On Wednesday, March 29th, Kelli, our oldest daughter gave birth to a 6 1/2 lbs., 20" baby girl (Natalie Ann). Both are doing well and at home now. She has gain about a pound since birth and has her days and nights reversed. Both daughters tell us there will be no more grand kids. We have 3, Nathan - 4 (Kelli and Andrew), Elysia - 2 (Shannon and Dirk), and now Natalie - 2 weeks. Anyway, spring is springing, the grass is grassing and the golfers are golfing. We are fine and looking forward to the warmer weather. By the way, if you talk to anyone on the reunion staff let them know I have received the information but what I would like to see is something where people not attending could post a little verbiage about what they have been doing for the last 40 years. I would gladly donate to that and provide a one pager about what's taken place. Have a good one, bye E. C. Cullen Asbestos Program Manager Industrial Hygiene Resources 206 Murray Street Boise, Idaho 83714 Boise?!? I've been to Boise!!! I think chances are excellent that E. C. is probably referring to a mini-biography in the reunion booklet, and I'm 99.3 % sure that the plan for such an inclusion in the booklet was abandoned for several reasons. Nonetheless, I've sent E. C. a copy of this Newsletter (Hi, E. C.!!!) , and we'd certainly be delighted to have him join us here and share anything with us he wishes! Thanks so much, Jim!

From Dave Spriggs ('64) of VA - 04/15/06 - "ActiveX Controls":
| That pesky permission window is the
unintended consequence of downloading and installing the latest round of
Microsoft security updates, specifically KB912945 Here is what I found after a little searching: Sounds like you may have installed KB912945 hotfix; see http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?t=18474 and http://support.microsoft.com/kb/912945 Assuming WinXP: Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs (make sure "Show Updates" box is checked) > Is Windows XP Hotfix - KB912945 (or similar) listed here? Here is what he said: Open "Control Panel" Open "Add/Remove Programs" (Ensure that the "Show Updates" box is checked. Look for "Security Update for Windows XP (KB912945) If you find it, click on it and REMOVE IT. It seems that all the programmers of all your applications will have to create updates of their own to get around this problem. Microsoft was forced to do after losing a patent court case. GRRRRRRRR!!!!!!
David,
you are my hero!

You Don't Own Me
Words and Music by John Madara and David White
(Leslie Gore)
You don't own me,
I'm not just one of your many toys
You don't own me,
Don't say I can't go with other boys
And don't tell me what to do
And don't tell me what to say
And please, when I go out with you
Don't put me on display, 'cause
You don't own me,
Don't try to change me in any way
You don't own me,
Don't tie me down 'cause I'd never stay
Oh, I don't tell you what to say
I don't tell you what to do
So just let me be myself
That's all I ask of you
I'm young and I love to be young
I'm free and I love to be free
To live my life the way I want
To say and do whatever I please
And don't tell me what to do
Oh don't tell me what to say
And please, when I go out with you
Don't put me on display
I don't tell you what to say
Oh don't tell you what to do
So just let me be myself
That's all I ask of you
I'm young and I love to be young
I'm free and I love to be free
To live my life the way I want …
