05/06/08 - NNHS Newsletter - Till the End of Time
“If patience is worth anything, it must endure to the end of time. |
||
Dear
Friends and Schoolmates,
This is one of my very favorite songs by one of my very favorite
singers from one of my very favorite movies,
Till the End of Time
(1946). I had long since despaired of finding a midi file of it,
when to my great delight I "accidentally" stumbled over this one last night
while searching for something else entirely.

HEALTH UPDATES:
1. Pam Pennington Cherry ('58) of VA:
From Sepi Dinwiddie Prichard ('58) of NC -
05/04/08, 4:52 PM:
Carol and members of the Class of "58.
I spoke with Pam Pennington Cherry before I went on vacation, and in about eight
months Pam will indeed have to have the ablation process repeated.
Since she is Head of the Decorating Committee for our soon to be here 50th
Reunion and will not be able to run from one location to the other in her usual
fashion decorating for us, she has asked me to find five other ladies interested
in helping her decorate. She will delegate, and we will decorate ! This will
take a minimum of two hours on Saturday afternoon, and those with willing hearts
and able hands and legs should e-mail me at
01.sepi@gmail.com !
Thanks in advance for those willing to help ! I would appreciate immediate
attention to this matter so that I may call Pam and she will have one less thing
to worry about.
We all knew I think, that there was a chance that this procedure may have to be
repeated before Pam even had the first one. The serious trouble resulting from
the first procedure is unfortunately, not unusual ! Pam would appreciate it if
you would update the Prayer list for her, and although she is strong in Faith,
there are others of us out there that are just as strong. At this time her
doctor said no pace maker was needed or called for. Lifting her up in prayer
each day for the next eight months may result in no further action on the part
of the doctors ! She thanks each and every one in The Typhoon Family for their
time in remembering her in prayer !
Dimples aka Sepi
YOWZERONI! I'm sorry to hear that Pam's news was less than we were all hoping to hear, and we'll increase our prayers accordingly.
I forwarded your note to
Joe Drewry ('58 - of VA) so he could pass it on to the Class of '58
faster....
Thanks so much, Dimples!

From Dave

Carol,
I was doing some file
housekeeping of attachments to old e-mails, and I came across this image.
Lord only knows from whom I received it, and I had forgotten all about it. I
have never seen a better image of the entire expanse of Ferguson Park,
despite its age. I believe that it came to me as part of a discussion of the
location of the old baseball park on Virginia Avenue. |

And by a happy "coincidence", another old photograph came my way this week which showed a good bit of the court across the street from where I lived, so I added it to the Stuart Gardens page - and redesigned both pages a bit in the process: http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/SITE-MAP.html http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/apartments.html |

Wayne
(Stokes - '65 - of
VA) and I have the
same problem. It just became evident lately. Has something changed in
your process?
Yes, ma'am. I tried to cheat because I'm a slacker. It didn't work. RATS! I've repented now, and there should be no further such nonsense in the future - I hope.....
Thank you, Dearest Judy - I love
you, too!
From Sepi Dinwiddie Prichard ('58) of NC -

Hi Carol....
About those red framed boxes....does this mean we were not supposed to use our
imaginations ? I have been doing this for months and am always happy with the
results !

From Elaine Wilkinson Bracken ('61) of VA - 05/05/08, 10:49 AM:

More important is for you to get rest and get well. PLEASE take care of yourself and don't worry about this website so much. We all love you too much for you to sacrifice your health for us. Are you hearing me???
Thanks so much,
Elaine!
Yes, ma'am, you'll notice that I
do take a "personal day" from time to time - such as yesterday.....
(Well, actually, I did keep working quite a
bit on the site itself; I just couldn't seem to focus well enough to compile
the Newsletter as I had intended.....)
From Elaine Wilkinson Bracken ('61) of VA - 05/04/08 - "Thank
Robert Price ('61 - of VA)":
Wasn't that - ahhh, therapeutic?? Thanks again, Elaine -

From My Niece, Shari, of VA -
05/05/08 - "milk":
A golden oldie.
GLASS OF MILK
One day, a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way through school, found he had only one thin dime left, and he was hungry.
He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door.
Instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water! She thought he looked hungry so brought him a large glass of milk. He drank it so slowly, and then asked, How much do I owe you?'
You don't owe me anything,' she replied. 'Mother has taught us never to accept pay for a kindness.'
He said ... 'Then I thank you from my heart.'
As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt stronger physically, but his faith in God and man was strong also. He had been ready to give up and quit.
Many year's later that same young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were baffled. They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in specialists to study her rare disease.
Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for the consultation. When he heard the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes.
Immediately he rose and went down the hall of the hospital to her room.
Dressed in his doctor's gown he went in to see her. He recognized her at once.
He went back to the consultation room determined to do his best t o save her life. From that day he gave special attention to her case.
After a long struggle, the battle was won.
Dr. Kelly requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval. He looked at it, then wrote something on the edge and the bill was sent to her room. She feared to open it, for she was sure it would take the rest of her life to pay for it a ll. Finally she looked, and something caught her attention on the side of the bill. She read these words ..
'Paid in full with one glass of milk'
(Signed) Dr. Howard Kelly.
Tears of joy flooded her eyes as her happy heart prayed: 'Thank You, God, that Your love has spread broad through human hearts and hands.'
There's a saying which goes something like this: Bread cast on the waters comes back to you. The good deed you do today may benefit you or someone you love at the least expected time. If you never see the deed again at least you will have made the world a better place - And, after all, isn't that what life is all about?
The hardest thing to learn in life is which bridge to cross and which to burn.
Thank you, Shari!
I didn't bother to run this through
snopes.com, as it doesn't matter if it is apocryphal or not, or even if Dr.
Howard Kelly ever existed or not. It remains a beautiful parable.

Till the end of time, long as stars are in the blue
Long as there's a Spring of birds to sing I'll go on loving you
Till the end of time, long as roses bloom in May
My love for you will grow deeper with every passing day
Till the wells run dry and each mountain disappears
I'll be there for you to care for you through laughter and through tears
So take my heart in sweet surrender and tenderly say that I'm
The one you love and live for till the end of time
Till the wells run dry and each mountain disappears
I'll be there for you to care for you through laughter and through tears
So take my heart in sweet surrender and tenderly say that I'm
The one you love and live for till the end of time
