Clarence was a faithful husband to his wife, Virginia, both of whom enjoyed their last years at the Devonshire and he was a dedicated husband to Virginia in her last few years of declining health. | I'M SO SADDENED TO HEAR OF THE PASSING OF MR. CLODFELTER, YET HAPPY FOR HIS PRESENCE WITH GOD. ...HE , HIS SON, AND MABEL MORE OR LESS RAISED ME IN BRENTWOOD PHARMACY, WHEN CANDY BARS WERE 15 CENTS, AND SODAS WERE "JERKED" FRESH.....MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH ALL WHO LOVED HIM.... |

| I
was born and raised in Wythe and remember going to the soda fountain and
having prescriptions filled at the Kecoughtan Pharmacy. Doc. Clodfelter
supplied me not only with medicines but with cherished childhood memories of
simpler times. May he rest in peace and may your family be comforted. |

| Our sympathy goes out to "Doc's" family. He was a wonderful, compassionate man. I have so many wonderful memories of Brentwood Pharmacy. I was one of the "regular" teens in the early '60s that made it an almost daily habit to visit the soda shop for grilled honeybuns! "Doc" was missed when he retired but Clarence was there to carry on his dad's great kindness. |

From
Aretie Gallins Patterson ('59) of TN - 05/08/08 - "Clodfelters":
I went to Westhampton College with Ann Clodfelter and was good friends with her. Ann was a graduate of Hampton High School, Class of 1958, I think. If you were searching, NNHS graduates, that might have been why you could not find the Clodfelter children.
Hope this helps.
Aretie Gallins Patterson
Ohhhh, well, thank you, Aretie.
It solves one mystery, but raises another, as both
Eleanor (Buckley Nowitzky - '59 - of NC) and I remember the
Clodfelter name quite vividly. I suppose it was because of Mr. Clodfelter
himself, as we very definitely patronized Kecoughtan Pharmacy.

Servant of God, Well Done!
Words by
Charles Wesley (28 Dec 1707 - 29 Mar 1788)
Music by
George J. Elvey (27 Mar 1816 - 9 Dec 1893)
(The Methodist Hymnal, 1966, #288)
Wesley wrote this hymn in 1770 on
the occasion of the death of clergyman George White.
Elvey's tune, "Diademata", has been set to several other hymns, notably "Crown
Him with Many Thorns" and "Soldiers of Christ, Arise".
Servant of God, well done!
Thy glorious warfare’s past;
The battle’s fought, the race is won,
And thou art crowned at last.
With saints enthroned on high,
Thou dost thy Lord proclaim,
And still to God salvation cry,
Salvation to the Lamb!
O happy, happy soul!
In ecstasies of praise,
Long as eternal ages roll,
Thou seest Thy Savior’s face.
Redeemed from earth and pain,
Ah! when shall we ascend,
And all in Jesus’ presence reign
With our translated friend?
