07/20/04 - NNHS Newsletter - I Love This Job!
Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
It's
only been a few days since I've written you, but so much has happened that I'm
ridiculously far behind again already - and that's okay! I'll catch up
soon enough. Right
now I'll just tell you six super cool things, and save the rest for later.
On
Bastille Day, July 14,
while I was babysitting Ben, my favorite local two-year-old, I had a
surprise phone call
from - Mr. Wilson! That's right - our beloved Band Director! What a
great treat!
He gave me permission to add his email address to his page, and to place
him on the mailing list.

Madagan ('57) of FL and Dave Spriggs ('64) of VA, bless their sweet
hearts, have for the last
month been gently encouraging me to expand and refine the "Famous Military"
pages. Not only are there
now five such pages - which grow daily, I believe, but thanks to Joe's sharing
of "Famous Marines", it is
now linked to a Marine web ring of 1700 Real Marines, plus another mailing list
of 800 more Real Marines.

I'm not
sure how many of the rest of you will get as big a kick out of this as I did,
but I have a
thing for old Mack buses. I've always thought in my heart of hearts that
they were the only "real"
buses. It seemed to me that newer models only developed as we entered into
some sort of Medieval
period of bus designs, when the original pure knowledge of bus designing became
lost to the world.
When
Bruce Korusek (John Marshall High, '66) of VA joined our group, he
began supplying us
with fabulous images of our old CRT buses. I personally am in Hog Heaven!
He not only sends the
beautiful photos he took in years past, but supplies the matching histories to
complete the picture!
He sent some truly awesome images this week:

I found a letter from Jimmy Parker ('62) of VA with the most precious
photos inside taken in 1949
of Jimmy and Kathleen ('60) and Forrest Powell ('63):
