Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
| I've had
this song on my Upcoming List for so long, I can't even remember why.
I think it came via my Haunted Radio, but I may have simply encountered it
online. Regardless, I do like it!

Dear Carol,
As usual I have been enjoying
the newsletters and was
thrilled to see
the story about Roy and Bullet. I have a Roy Rogers story
myself. A few years ago ... late 1994 ... I was out in California at the
National Training Center (Army job) ... On my way back to the airport from
my assignment, I noticed I would go through the little town that was the
home of the "Roy Rogers Museum." Well, having been absolutely crazy about
everything RR when I was a child, I made time to stop. I enjoyed the
morning immensely (Trigger is actually there ... stuffed, along with
Bullet and the famous Nellybelle!)

As I was leaving, there stood a familiar man with a cowboy hat and I
completely lost it!! He was SOOOOO gracious, gave me a big hug and had his
assistant take this picture of us. I totally regressed to being six years
old and was DELIGHTED!
Thought you might like to have this picture and say "Happy Trails to all my TYPHOON friends! ... until we meet again!" WOWZERONI-RINI-ROONI!!! |

Hi Carol -- I'd like to nominate a "Famous
Airman": Mickey Spillane, famed mystery writer.
Born: Frank Morrison Spillane, 3/19/18, in
Brooklyn, NY
Died: 7/17/06 in Murrell's Inlet, SC
Served as a fighter pilot instructor in the
AAF in WWII.
Haven't been able to find any photos of him

Dear Carol,
Here's hoping you are
feeling better. I hope I don't annoy you too much sending you all these
Animal pictures. With all the sad news on TV, it's a wonder anyone can
feel good. To help out, go over to the Humane Society and adopt a little
Dog or Cat ?? Wake up, dear Carol, The long story is ending, Enjoy the pictures. Your Friend, Herbie Thanks, Herbie! You never annoy or bore me; I'm always delighted to hear from you! Unfortunately, due to the outrageously severe allergies of my oldest and youngest children (plus a few more in between), owning pets - puppy dogs, kitty cats, or even bunny rabbits - is not an option for us at this time. There's not enough Claritin in the world!
But perhaps that day will
come. Meanwhile, I do so enjoy the pictures!

Hi, Carol:
Because of your outstanding Famous Military Pages, I
thought a bit of humor might be interesting to your subscribers. After
sending you the photo of the young bride being welcomed into the Military
with the saber stinging her rear assets I received a Newsletter from the
USS Macon. The title of the publication is "The Macon Time" which is
something many young Typhoon understood when they viewed
the submarine races.
The USS BOXER newsletter is aptly names "BOXER

Yes, there is a question.
When can
Carol (Buckley Harty - '65 - of
NC) and I see the dance--the Celtic Dance of the Spurned Lover? I
collect dance clips. Eleanor Buckley Nowitzky ('59) of NC Yes, David, we do want to see this dance! We promise to watch it reverently. No, we don't.
We promise no such thing. That's just a Big Fat Whopper. We plan
to laugh delightedly.
Thanks, Eleanor!

David Darlin', you are a HOOT!!! Hey, David, perhaps if you showed Eleanor the Celtic Dance of the Spurned Lover (performed in a suitably reverent manner, of course), she would show you her version of the Baba Bug Dance, as performed by our mama when she and Eleanor were chaperoning the Theta Delta Chi sorority's stay at Buckroe Beach during that rainy week in June of 1963. It seems the beach house we rented already had some residents - a veritable plethora of filthy, disgusting ROACHES! YOWZERONI!!! The Beautiful Baba (as she was known) was not going to put up with that, so she bought some insecticide, and spent the entire time spraying for roaches, while simultaneously trying to step on them. The resulting ballet was performed all week, much to the screaming gleeful delight of everyone in the house. The poor filthy roaches died of mass heart attacks at the very sight of this spectacle, long before the spray or the fumes or her feet could reach them. Eleanor does a fabulous imitation of the entire charade. I've had her perform it innumerable times for all seven of my children in the interest of preserving a valuable part of our family history (not to mention the royal entertainment it provides). I assure you, this would be a fair trade. And So, David, do we have a deal yet? Hmmm??? Thanks, Gorgeous!

| Hi Carol, This is Ricki Green (now Ricki Gray) and I am also in NC ~ Greensboro ~ and I saw that my sister and I were mentioned by
David Whitley ('67 - of VA). He contacted
me a few years ago and I lost his email address, so it was good to see him
online.
Well, that just won't do, Ricki! How ever will you be entertained?!? David gave us his work address long ago, and said that anyone who wished could contact him there: One of our main functions is to keep people in touch with one another. waiting for the internet service to be restored last evening (construction
workers had caused an outage which lasted more than four hours), I typed in
the lyrics to the Senior Class Songs for the Classes of 1963,1964, and 1966. I was unable to locate copies of those composed for 1961 and 1962, and was interrupted (go figure!) before I was able to determine who wrote '66's Senior Class Song. http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/GRADUATIONS.html http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/GRAD-1963.html |

Carol,
We will have Life Touch Photographers at
the reunion on Saturday night taking individual pictures as well as
pictures of the festivities all evening. Their cost, if people order now,
is $20 per book. At the reunion it will be $25 per book. The photos will
be taken in black and white. I am attaching the order form so you can
post the information on the site. We used this same company in 1996 at
our 30-year reunion and were very pleased with the results.
Thanks!

WOWZERONI-RINI!!!
How neat! I'm not very skilled in converting .doc files to .html files, to put it mildly. I have this saved and available now, with several glaring errors: http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/LifeTouch-order-form.html Hopefully, I'll be able to have my resident tech-rep finish this properly for us before he leaves for college next week. Thanks so much, Dee!

Lord Tennyson's 197th Birthday":
| Never liked
Tennyson -
did you? Just wondered - we seem to like a lot of the same literature. Love, Cuz Pam Well, no, probably not, not really, no. When asked, I always say my favorite authors are Geoffrey Chaucer (read in Middle English, which I can no longer do without a lot of work) and Charles Dickens. But of course, we both know that as in all things, I have many more "favorites" - Saul Bellow, James Joyce, James Michener, J.D. Salinger, Mark Twain, Herman Wouk. Often it's Whoever I Happen to Be Reading at the Moment. I'm not fond of Ernest Hemingway or Edith Wharton, and I can't stand Jack London. You know, at the
moment, I'd have to say two my favorite authors are
|
| Lewis Green (who has a couple of pet wolves!) is a personal friend of mine. Bless his sweet heart, he presented me with autographed copies of four of his published books. If you can find a copy of Spirit Bells, I cannot recommend it more highly than I do. The main character, Hunter Vinn, comes alive in such a way that I quite fell in love with him. |

Okay, Lady, you've caught me. I've always preferred prose to poetry. I'm afraid I have no poetry in my soul. I always feel rather stupid when I read it, because I really cannot discern what is good and what is not, nor do I really care to do so. I don't like to look at things critically; I only like to enjoy them. There is so much of poetry that is either blatantly good or bad, and because it so goes against my grain to judge, I think I'd just rather not know. And then I'm left in the position of saying, "Oh, I just love ____!" - when "everybody" knows it's inferior - and then I feel stupid. Does that make sense?!? Thanks, Cousin Pam!

From David Whitley ('67) of VA - 08/11/06 - "A Letter to Dad":
| A FATHER PASSING BY HIS SON'S
BEDROOM WAS ASTONISHED TO SEE THAT THE BED WAS NICELY MADE AND EVERYTHING
WAS PICKED UP. THEN HE SAW AN ENVELOPE PROPPED UP PROMINENTLY ON THE CENTER
OF THE BED. IT WAS ADDRESSED "DAD". WITH THE WORST PREMONITION, HE OPENED THE ENVELOPE AND READ THE LETTER WITH TREMBLING HANDS: DEAR DAD, IT IS WITH GREAT REGRET AND SORROW THAT I'M WRITING THIS. I HAD TO ELOPE WITH MY NEW GIRLFRIEND BECAUSE I WANTED TO AVOID A SCENE WITH MOM AND YOU. I'VE BEEN FINDING REAL PASSION WITH BARBARA, AND SHE IS SO NICE EVEN WITH ALL HER PIERCINGS, TATTOOS, AND HER TIGHT MOTORCYCLE CLOTHES. BUT IT'S NOT ONLY THE PASSION, DAD. SHE'S PREGNANT, AND BARBARA SAID THAT WE WILL BE VERY HAPPY. EVEN THOUGH YOU DON'T CARE FOR HER, AS SHE IS MUCH OLDER THAN I, SHE ALREADY OWNS A TRAILER IN THE WOODS AND HAS A STACK OF FIREWOOD FOR THE WHOLE WINTER. SHE WANTS TO HAVE MANY MORE CHILDREN WITH ME AND THAT'S NOW ONE OF MY DREAMS TOO. BARBARA TAUGHT ME THAT MARIJUANA DOESN'T REALLY HURT ANYONE, AND WE'LL BE GROWING IT FOR OURSELVES, AND TRADING IT WITH HER FRIENDS FOR ALL THE COCAINE AND ECSTASY WE WANT. IN THE MEANTIME, WE'LL PRAY THAT SCIENCE
WILL FIND A CURE FOR AIDS SO BARBARA GETS BETTER; SHE SURE DESERVES IT!!
DON'T WORRY DAD, I'M 15 YEARS OLD NOW AND I KNOW HOW TO TAKE CARE OF MYSELF.
SOMEDAY I'M SURE WE'LL BE BACK TO VISIT, SO YOU CAN GET TO KNOW YOUR
GRANDCHILDREN.
Thank you, David, you rascal!

Truly Madly Deeply
(Savage Garden)
I'll be your dream
I'll be your wish
I'll be your fantasy.
I'll be your hope
I'll be your love
Be everything that you need.
I love you more with every breath
Truly madly deeply do..
I will be strong I will be faithful
'Cause I'm counting on a new beginning.
A reason for living.
A deeper meaning.
I want to stand with you on a mountain.
I want to bathe with you in the sea.
I want to lay like this forever.
Until the sky falls down on me...
And when the stars are shining brightly
In the velvet sky,
I'll make a wish
Send it to heaven
Then make you want to cry..
The tears of joy
For all the pleasure and the certainty.
That we're surrounded
By the comfort and protection of..
The highest power.
In lonely hours.
The tears devour you..
I want to stand with you on a mountain,
I want to bathe with you in the sea.
I want to lay like this forever,
Until the sky falls down on me...
Oh can't you see it baby?
You don't have to close your eyes
'Cause it's standing right before you.
All that you need will surely come...
I'll be your dream
I'll be your wish
I'll be your fantasy.
I'll be your hope
I'll be your love
Be everything that you need.
I'll love you more with every breath
Truly madly deeply do...
