Yes - all
interested members of Class of '65 - we are still meeting in
the lobby of the Omni at 4:00.
Dave and I
figure that 20 minutes is a good "drag" time, so we will depart for parts
unknown at 4:20.
Okay, Pam - here it is! I was
hoping maybe to tell some of those others who couldn’t make it that early and
who
need to meet us at
the restaurant just where we’d be
heading, but I suppose we can always call them – ‘specially if
someone carts along a few
phone numbers!
Has anyone checked out that
Madison’s place that Kathy
recommended? I liked the part about its being close and
on
the very same street, thereby
helping us not to get lost – not that I ever do………….
Anyway, y'all come!!!
Obviously, this
is an independent group - no pre-registration required.
'Course, it might not hurt to give Dave and Pam a call and tell them you plan to
surprise the rest
of us. (I LOVE surprises!)
Carol
- I will bring you your new member of your family on Friday.
Pam
Oh, how sweet of you! I'd forgotten all about that! We've all three been astonished by how much we miss that fish!
Thanks, Pam!
And speaking of phone books, if anyone has a spare phonebook of the Peninsula
which they'd like to donate to me,
I think my life would be much richer. I know it would be more fun!
GIGGLES! Thanks!
Thanks,
Terry! I started to say, "Oh, I have that already!", but then I started
checking. I thought it was in Harron's Mother's
Treasure Chest, but it wasn't in there. Some weeks after Harron
Ellenson's ('65 of MA) mother passed away, Harron sent us
a great deal of material she found among her mother's papers:
http://www.angelfire.com/va3/nnhs_65/treasures.html
That is one of
the oldest sections of the website, completed only days before we moved away
from IL, which was three years ago
this week. (That would explain its strange appearance, as I really didn't
know much about what I was doing back then. At the
moment, I can't seem to beautify it, 'cause it's not in my FTP, and I suppose I
STILL don't know what I'm doing....)
So then I thought it was in the information Billy Turner ('65) of TX gave me even earlier that year:
http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/t-typhoon.html
And that, indeed is where it's "posta" be, but once again, I really didn't know what I was doing, so it's not there.
SOOOO, thanks, Terry, I would be delighted to use your copied version.
Maybe by now I'll know what I'm doing well enough
to be able to use it. Maybe not....
Carol,
I give up. Where in the world did we get
the expression "forty-eleven" when we are talking about lots of things. I have
been
using "forty-eleven" for quite some time and to see you using it in your letters
means it must have been something we learned
in Mrs. Sturm's English
class. Which exercise did we do forty-eleven times.
Eddie
GIGGLES! Thanks, Eddie! Several of us have had this conversation of the origins of this expression before. I do not believe
I've always wanted to know
why I had Mrs. Sturm for both freshman and sophomore English, but I suppose that
shall have to remain
one of life's mysteries.
I'm sorry that you and Pauline will be missing this Reunion. As I may have mentioned once or twice, I'm confident it will be legendary.
See y'all next year???

From Jimmy Dick (’65) of FL - 10/20/04,
9:17 AM:
My mom, Cammie Dick, died last night after a long bout
with Alzheimer's. She was 91. A resident
of Newport News since 1938, Mom was known by most of the kids who started out at
Wilson Elementary
as my sister, brother and I all went to that school. While I am saddened,
I know that she is in a better
place and is now at peace. Arrangements are pending, I don't have any
details yet but will be headed
north this afternoon. Please ask those who remember her to say a prayer
for her. Thanks.
Jimmy, we’re so sorry to
learn of your loss. Your mother was a very fine woman, and our thoughts and
prayers are
with not only her, but you and your entire family as well. Travel safely, and
know that you will be in the minds of many
of your friends and schoolmates today.
Jim's sister and brother are
Cammie Dick ('57) and Bobby Dick ('61).
Also from Jimmy Dick ('65) of FL - 10/20/04, 5:33 PM:
Carol,
Thank you for quickly putting this information out. I have already received two
very kind condolences
from Dave Arnold ('65 of VA) and Dave
Spriggs ('64 of VA) which I am responding to individually.
Mom will be buried at Old Greenlawn Cemetery (next to my dad) on Friday at 1 pm.
The service will
be graveside since Mom was always a very simple, uncomplicated person. Please
pass this on.
Thanks, again, for sharing the word.
God Bless,
Jim
Once again, Jimmy, you and your family have our deepest sympathy.

Y'all take care of each other. I hope to see many of you very, very soon!
Love to all, Carol

I Wonder Who's Kissing
Her Now
Lyrics by Will M. Hough and Frank R. Adams
Music by Harold Orlob and Joe Howard
(From the musical show "The Prince Of Tonight", 1909)
You have loved lots of girls in
the sweet long ago,
And each one has meant heaven to you
You have vowed your affection to each one in turn,
And have sworn to them all you'd be true;
You have kissed 'neath the moon,
While the world seemed in tune
Then you've left her to hunt a new game.
Does it ever occur to you later, boy,
That's she's prob'ly doing the same?
I wonder who's kissing her now,
Wonder who's teaching her how?
Wonder who's looking in to her eyes?
Breathing sighs!
Telling lies!
I wonder if she's got a boy?
The girl who once filled me with joy,
Wonder if she ever tells him of me?
I wonder who's kissing her now?
If you want to feel wretched and lonely and blue,
Just imagine the girl you love best
In the arms of some fellow who's stealing a kiss
From the lips that you once fondly pressed;
But the world moves a pace and the loves of today
Flit away with a smile and a tear.
So you never can tell who is kissing her how.
Or just whom you'll be kissing next year.
I wonder who's kissing her now,
Wonder who's teaching her how?
Wonder who's looking in to her eyes?
Breathing sighs!
Telling lies!
I wonder who's buying the wine?
For lips that I used to call mine,
Wonder if she ever tells him of me?
I wonder who's kissing her now?
