BIG NEWS FLASH:
COMING SOON FOR SALE BY
THE CLASS OF 1964:
Tom Flax just finished his first session with the videographer on
11/01/04. They have finished a rough first edit of the video taken
at the Typhoon Family Reunion of the Class of 1964.
IT IS TERRIFIC!
They think they will have a finished product, available in DVD
or VHS, in about 2-3 weeks.
They need to judge how many copies of the video they need to
produce, which they will try to keep it as inexpensive as possible.
It will be professionally copied with professionally done artwork as the cover,
and in its own jewel box.
Tom has established an email address for all interested parties to
let him know their interest. He will be waiting for all the replies.

I can't imagine anyone NOT wanting this! If you weren't
able to attend, you'll want to see everything you missed -
and it was SPECTACULAR! If you were there, you'll want to be able
to relive every precious moment again and again!
Drop Tom a line right away, and let him know how thrilled you are by this news!

Dear Carol,
I am glad to know about the site, but I get an email from you once or twice a
day, it seems.
Please remove me from your email list. Thanks.
Jack
No problem.

From Tom Oxner ('65) of AR - 11/01/04:
Thanks for your great job on
this newsletter. Even though I am
from the Class of '65, I recognized
a few faces from the photos at the Class
of '64 Reunion. I was especially glad to see a photo
of Jim Watson ('64 of AZ). I had not seen him since the mid 70's when his
parents still lived
on 74th Street. I wished I could have made the reunion to actually talk with
him. Thanks for rekindling
some old memories.

Thanks, Tom! Isn't it fun seeing old friends again that way???

AND NOW, BACK TO THE BACKLOG:
From Tim Parsons (' 73) of VA - 10/17/04:
Carol,
I bowled with Mr. Wilson in a local league here on the southside a few
years ago. He looked great. I remember when he
gave me a choice once after I got a pink slip. He said, "Ok, you can have 5 days
or 5 licks. " I took the 5 licks. I was
instructed to take my wallet out of my pocket and bend over. He gave me 5 licks
with a paddle that had holes in it. And
it hurt like heck. I'm not sure what I did wrong but I'm sure I deserved it and
I never did it again.

HA-HA! That's a good one, Tim! Thanks! I posted it on Mr. Wilson's page, and added an image of my own from the Reunion:

My father took me to most of the
games of the state championship season in 1964.
We were at the Deep Creek game that Newport News won 126-35 in the Julie Conn Gym. I played in the old YMCA church league and we practiced in the gym in the basement of the Y. What a great gym and it had a distinctive odor of it's own. We would practice there on Saturdays and then get Krispy Kreme donuts at the drive thru in Hilton after practice. I remember at our league banquet when Chris Ellis and Jimmy Rama spoke and later gave autographs. Coach Mitchell was also there and that team was the toast of the town. Dad would take us to the Turkey Day game every year and I guess we went to just about every game from 1961 to the final game, which I have on a home movie. |

By the way, I'll be scanning in the senior
portraits of the deceased members of the Class of 1966 very soon now.
Fred Mays ('60) of VA, bless his sweet heart, presented me with a copy of
the 1966 Anchor at the Reunion,
so many additional
important images from that year (such as Basketball, Track and Field, etc.) will
now be available to us. And I have thoroughly enjoyed
that yearbook, too. Thanks again, Fred! You are my hero. (And
besides, Fred told me I was beautiful Saturday night!!! LA-LA-LA!)

Please STOP, my box is overflowing, it is upsetting Yahoo.
Thanks,
Bill
No problem.
This must be a record. I only mailed him four notes. Oh, well. Mustn't upset Yahoo.

it doesn't mean he doesn't want kindness; however big Tigger seems to be,
remember that he wants as much kindness as Roo."

From Dave Spriggs ('64) of VA - 11/03/04:
These are both wonderful, David! You made my whole day! Thanks so much! I posted them here:

http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/reunion2004.html
And may I say thanks once again for the magnificent job you and your committee
did. What a lifetime of memories you gave
to us all!
There's much more I could post, but my favorite two-year old boy is coming to spend the day with me, so i must run now.
Y'all take care of each other.
Love to all, Carol
