   There is even more sad news tonight.  One of our younger alumni has passed away.

  From Dee Hodges Bartram ('66) of VA - 11/13/06 - "Notice for Barry W. Rigney":

Carol,

Barry is a graduate of NNHS. His brother, Garland, is a friend of mine and was in the class of 1967. I grew up with Garland, Barry and Doug downtown Newport News. Doug died in a car accident a few years ago and Barry has been ill for a while now.

Barry W. Rigney

HAMPTON - Barry W. Rigney, 55, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006. A native of Newport News, Mr. Rigney had been a resident of the Peninsula all of his life. Survivors include his mother, Rita K. Rigney of Hampton; a brother, Garland B. Rigney Jr. of Hampton; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Peninsula Memorial Park. The family will be at the home of Garland Rigney Jr., 1209 Chesapeake Ave., Hampton. Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Garland, I am sorry to hear about the passing of your brother. I lost my brother, Ray NNHS '55, a couple of years ago and there are no words to fill the void that is left ... but good memories will keep them with us.
