Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
We have more sad news this morning. Norma Shrie Barron passed away in Newport News on Thursday, November 15, 2007 at the age of 85.

NEWPORT NEWS - Norma 'Mamaw'
Barron, 85, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, Nov. 15,
2007. Her daughters watched as the angels carried her home. Norma was a lifelong resident of Newport News and a graduate of Newport News High School. She retired from the Newport News Police Department as a school crossing guard after 20 years of service and was a member of Temple Baptist Church. Norma dedicated her life to her family. She loved card games, board games, bowling and, in her golden years, she was an avid bingo player. Her husband, Thomas Jefferson Barron, and her twin sister, Anna May Thomas, preceded her in death. |

Her memory is left to be
cherished by three daughters, Helen 'Duchess' Johnson and her husband, Glen,
Dotty Barron Jernigan and her husband, Leon 'Bim', Louise Barron Dawes;
Donna Jones, who was loved like a daughter; four grandchildren, Paul 'PJ'
McRae and his wife, Bobbie, Mason G. Edwards and his wife, Lori, Thomas J.
West, Amy E. Gelhaar and her husband, Mike; seven great- grandchildren,
Jaret and Joshua West, Jordan and Macy Edwards, Erin Mike 'Trey' Gelhaar,
and Killian McRae; a nephew, Charles 'Butch' Thomas and his wife, Denise; a
niece, Jennifer Thomas and her husband, Glenn; and other loving family. The family will receive friends Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday by Rev. Dr. Richard Harrell in Peninsula Memorial Park. Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Duchess, Dotty, Louise and
family, I was saddened to hear that your mom had passed and so quickly. I
have been thinking of the many times that I visited with you and your
parents when I was in high school and later when my mother and I used to

So sorry to receive the news
about Norma. There are so few people on this earth that would give such
unconditional love to all she met. She was so very good to me no mater what
the circumstances were, I was always welcome into her and Toms home. My
deepest sympathy to Duchess, Dotty and Louise. She was loved by all who knew
her and will be keeping an eye on all of us from heaven. Love and miss you Tommie. |
