Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
I stumbled across this midi while looking for something else, and I really love the melody. The words aren't too shabby either.

From Jean Poole Burton ('64) of
RI - 11/17/07 - "Bobby Vee...":
When we were in Branson in September we saw the Dick Clark American Bandstand show featuring Bobby Vee, Fabian, Chris Montez, and one of the original Chiffons. Bobby Vee told the story about being called in to play in the show after Buddy Holly's plane crashed. He said it was his first big break and that even though Elvis was considered "the king of rock and roll" as far as he was concerned, Buddy Holly was the king. By the way, Fabian is STILL HOT.
Well, it's nice to know that there is at least SOME constancy in the world -
WILD GIGGLES!!! Thanks, Jean!

Thanks, Judy!!! This
extraordinary image
has been making the rounds because it's touching our hearts with its message
of hope. I'm posting it again -
complete with the Blue Ribbon which
Sepi Dinwiddie Prichard ('58) of NC) awarded to Eva Ellis Madagan
('61) of FL (presumably for being the first of many to share it with us),
because it's such a great reminder of our many blessings this Thanksgiving week.

From Jean Poole Burton ('64) of
RI - 11/17/07 - "You are fast!!! (RE: Recipe Exchange)":
Your recipes were the first ones I received. I will have to try them soon. I talked to both of my kiddies today and so I am very happy about that. Bex will be with us four days at Christmas. We have not heard where Chuck will go on his R&R but we will meet him there WHEREVER!!!
Are you cooking Thanksgiving dinner? I am cooking. I hope to give all the leftovers to guests because I hate thanksgiving leftovers! I know, it is weird...I like pizza on the day after...
Love, Jeanb
Well, lemme see. My four sons in Illinois are
all getting together with their families at
Randolph's (Harty
- Hillsboro HS, IL
- '92 - of IL) home.
If I counted heads correctly, that'll make eleven there, plus I believe they
invited one or two others to share it with them.
In Ohio,

Bethany's (Winona Harty
- Siuslaw
HS, OR - '94 - of OH)
parents are coming out from Oregon to not
only have Thanksgiving with them, but to witness
Tommy's baptism on the weekend. That'll be nine people.
http://www.mormon.org/mormonorg/eng/basic-beliefs/the-commandments/baptism-and-confirmation
We had originally planned for
Dale (Harty
- Hillsboro HS,
IL / American School, IL - '02 - of VA),
Diana
(Lyons Harty
- Portsmouth HS, NH / Eastlake
HS, CA - '05),
and
Adrienne (Harty
- Hillsboro HS,
IL / American School, IL - of VA)
to come down from the Sacred Soil to be with us, but now they can't afford
it, and neither can we afford to go up to Lexington, so I suppose the three of
them will spend the day alone together..
We could go over to
Eleanor's (Buckley Nowitzky -
'59 - of NC) to have dinner with them there (her son
Kevin and his wife Leslie and their three sons are coming to spend
some time with her.
Someone gave us a turkey which is still in the freezer, and someone else is bringing us a nice ham. I promised to make a pecan pie and some of my special rice pudding. Generally speaking, with only the two of us, I'm leaning towards just going to Cracker Barrel or Golden Corral. Maybe Arby's.....
Thanks,
Jean! Have a blessed Thanksgiving!

From My #5 Son, Nathaniel Harty (Hillsboro HS,
IL- '97) - 11/17/07 - "RE:
Recipe Exchange":
Hey, this recipe talk reminds me.
What kind of stuff did we normally have at Thanksgiving? We keep talking about
what to make, but none of us can think of much beyond the obvious turkey,
stuffing, potatoes, etc. I figured since you take pictures of the dinners, you
could give us some ideas of dishes.
Thanks, love ya, and talk to ya later.
You've come to the right place, Faniel!
Back in '99, I kept having a
problem remembering that myself, only to be properly horrified if I accidentally
omitted something "crucial" to any holiday gathering (I suppose I was expecting
an armed Holiday Dinner Patrol to arrive from Martha Stewart or something).
To prevent such a thing, I finally constructed the all-time inclusive list for
our Christmas album so I wouldn't have to think so hard every holiday season.
To see that page again, and in fact, for a rather substantial listing of recipes
and images, see this Newsletter from last year:
http://www.nnhs65.00freehost
Love you!
Thanks, that's exactly the kind of
thing I was looking for.
Love ya.
Thanks for the sweet reminder
of all our huge Thanksgiving and Christmas feasts, Pudlet!
We did know how to have fun together!

From Sepi
Dinwiddie Prichard ('58) of NC - 11/18/07
- "Your foot":
Well, Lady, that's a good question. I wish I had a good answer! It started throbbing on Tuesday night, and I went to bed thinking it would be all gone by morning. I was wrong; it was much worse. So I stayed off it for Wednesday and Thursday, and by Friday afternoon the pain -whatever it was - was gone.
Thanks for
asking, Sepi!

Just When I Needed You Most
Written by Randy
Vanwarmer
(30 Mar 1955 - 12 Jan 2004)
http://www.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/Music/01/14/obit.vanwarmer.ap/
You packed in the morning, I stared out the window
And I struggled for something to say
You left in the rain without closing the door
I didn't stand in your way.
But I miss you more than I missed you before
And now where I'll find comfort, God knows
'Cause you left me just when I needed you most
Left me just when I needed you most.
Now most every morning, I stare out the window
And I think about where you might be
I've written you letters that I'd like to send
If you would just send one to me.
'Cause I need you more than I needed before
And now where I'll find comfort, God knows
'Cause you left me just when I needed you most
Left me just when I needed you most.
You packed in the morning, I stared out the window
And I struggled for something to say
You left in the rain without closing the door
I didn't stand in your way.
Now I love you more than I loved you before
And now where I'll find comfort, God knows
'Cause you left me just when I needed you most
Oh yeah, you left me just when I needed you most
You left me just when I needed you most
