Also from Susie Overton Jones ('63) of VA - 11/29/04:
Also, in reference to Steve Corum ('62),
he is still living in Mobile, AL with his wife Claudia. Age has been good to
him.
He will definitely turn a woman's head.
After my father passed away, (22 years ago) my mom and Steve's dad "dated" for
18 years until his passing in Aug 2001.
Before Mr. Corum passed away I would see Steve and Claudia at least once a year,
they would rotate Thanksgiving and
Christmas each year, as Claudia is in nursing and would accommodate other nurses
for the holidays. They are both wonderful
people, and Steve is a very caring and warm person.
Carol, I am sending a copy of the obit in case you would like to post it.
Take care and have a great week.
Susie

WOWZERS,
Susie! I do love these Small World stories. Thanks for sending Mr.
Corum's obituary - and thank you as well
for the update on Steve. In a world of change, it's good to know that some
things - such as incredibly gorgeous men - remain
constant.

The above link will take you to the subject. Soon telemarketers will have
access to your cell phone numbers as the National
Directory of Cell Phone Numbers is about to be published.
If you haven't signed up, I advise you do. It's simple and safe. You may
include your land line if you haven't already done so.
Regards and Semper Fi
Thanks, Al! I try not to kick people very often, but sometimes I just .... what's that? OHHHH, nevermind! WILD GIGGLES!!!
Seriously, this is an issue of vital importance to many of you. We appreciate your sharing it with us, Al! Semper Fidelis!

From Sarah Puckett Kressaty ('65) of VA - 11/29/04:
Thanks, Sarah Sugar! I did pass this on to Gail. (It took me a couple of days, but I did.) You should be hearing from her shortly.

From Jerry Gammon ('63) of VA - 11/30/04:
CAROL,
IN KATHY
PILGRIM CLARK’S ('63 of VA) REUNION FOLLOW UP, SHE GAVE A HISTORY OF THE
“SAMMY AND _______ “ CHAIN OF RESTAURANTS
AND MENTIONED THAT SAMMY DIED 18 MONTHS AGO. SAMMY IS VERY MUCH ALIVE,
SERVING ON OUR BOARD (BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS)! IT WAS
HIS PARTNER, NICK WHO DIED ABOUT 18 MONTHS AGO.
THANKS,
Jerry
OOOPS!!! I remember reading Nick's
obituary when he passed away, but I neglected to save it. I honestly
though it was a bit further
back than that - possibly 2001. Come to think of it, I may actually
still have that obituary somewhere. It could take me quite a while
to locate it, but I believe I DO still have it.
Thanks so much, Jerry! By putting us all together, we make a pretty good Typhoon Team!

From Alice Fowler Edwards ('64) of VA - 11/30/04:
Wow! I hadn't thought about Steve Corum
('62 of AL) in YEARS. I remember drooling all over the bus stop every
morning
when he would say "Hi" ... Nice way to start the day. My, my, some things never
change. Hope he hasn't!!
Alice
Yessss, I do believe that was a wonderful way to start the day! WOWZERS!!! Thanks, Alice!

From Linda Lane Lane ('64) of VA - 11/30/04:
Thanks, Linda! I prsonally recommend Cepacol cough lozenges for your husband. They come in two flavors. I prefer the honey-lemon.
And with Kathy, I heartily recommend RJ's for a fascinating look back at our life and times.
The Grand
Illumination - WOW! I remember the first time I saw that. It was
probably the last time as weel, but it was in 1957. I was
ten years old, and staying with my aunt, uncle, and cousin (Cheryl White
Wilson - JMHS - '64) in Williamsburg. I think it was when I
first became enraptured with all things Colonial. All those white lights
and fireworks - mmmm! And yes, Jimmy-Jimmy, of course I
remember what I was wearing - a white silky blouse, a black velvet (not
velveteen!) jumper, black tights, and black pumps. It was a
very elegant occasion, so we dressed up for it. Remember those days???
I wish I could be there, too, Linda - thanks!

From Me ('65) of NC:

WOWZERS!

Also from Me ('65) of NC:
I’m gonna need to figure
out a better way to run things – it was much simpler last summer when I could
devote 12 to 15 hours
a day online. For some reason, my husband and daughter do not think this is
the greatest idea I ever had. In the interest
of balance, I’ve just been blundering a bit too much, leaving everyone
annoyed.
To all of y'all who have sent
me wondrous goodies for the various pages weeks, even months ago, and are
wondering why it
never appears - hang in there. I haven't really forgotten. You’ll
notice that often I do things out of order. This isn’t fair, but it’s
simpler. I go for the easy stuff first. If it’s a simple matter of adding a
comment to a page, it only takes a moment. Images take
more time because they usually have to be both resized and compressed..
Creating a brand new page takes waaaay more time.
The Famous Military pages which would seem easy enough involve those pesky
grids – which often become unstable for their
own perverse reasons.
If you think I'm only ignoring you,
trust me, you’re not alone. I have a huge backlog of images from Tim
Parsons ('73) of VA,
a plethora of information from Eric Huffstutler (BHS - '75) of VA, and
a goodly amount from a number of other people –
including even Dave Spriggs ('64) of VA. There is a very exciting
installment in process from Albert Dorner ('66) of VA, and
Tom Norris (HHS - '73) of VA is about to send me images from his
vast collections which I believe would be sufficient to open
an entire web page all by themselves. This doesn't even count the many
death notices which I have chosen to ignore, as if my
refusing to deal with them would lessen the reality of their deaths.
But that doesn’t make the
backlog any easier to bear. I just keep thinking I’ll be able to get it all
done – and the reality is that
I’m pathetically slow. Do ya think I should have learned to type, for
instance??? Sigh.
I do apologize.
Y'all take care of each other!
Love to all, Carol
