Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
Once again we have another sad edition of the NNHS Newsletter. Johnson
Ivey, father of Janice Ivey Leybold, Frances Ivey Cobb, Jerry Ivey,
Johnnie
Ivey ('65), and the late
Regina Ivey St. John ('66), passed away at
home in Newport News at the age of 87.

Johnson Ivey
NEWPORT NEWS - Johnson
Ivey, 87, passed away at home from complications of Parkinson's Syndrome
on Monday, Dec. 4, 2006. A native of North Carolina, he retired as a
pipefitter with Newport News Shipyard after 30 years of service. Mr.
Ivey was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Addie; daughter,
Regina I. St. John; and parents, Stinson Ivey Sr. and Bertha H. Ivey.
Survivors include two daughters, Janice I. Leybold and Frances I. Cobb
and her husband, Mate; two sons, Jerry D. Ivey and his wife, Charlotte,
and Johnnie E. Ivey Sr. and his wife, Brenda; nine grandchildren, Mark
Crandol, David Crandol, John Ivey, Michael Ivey, Paul Cobb, Jason
Stancill, Kathleen Hartless, Laura Campbell and Margaret Toth; four
sisters, Ruby I. Lockey, Melba I. Walters, Hazel I. Owens and Margaret
I. Simmons; one brother, Stinson Ivey Jr.; 13 great-grandchildren; and
numerous nieces and nephews. Burial was private. Memorial donations may
be made to a favorite charity. Peninsula Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements. |

| He was a great stepfather and a proud Democrat! I loved discussing political issues with him, traveling with him and his wife Thelma to Hawaii and Nashville and everywhere in between. We'll miss you Mr. J. May you rest in peace. |
