NEWPORT NEWS - Johnson Ivey, 87, passed away at home from complications of Parkinson's Syndrome on Monday, Dec. 4, 2006. A native of North Carolina, he retired as a pipefitter with Newport News Shipyard after 30 years of service. Mr. Ivey was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Addie; daughter, Regina I. St. John; and parents, Stinson Ivey Sr. and Bertha H. Ivey. Survivors include two daughters, Janice I. Leybold and Frances I. Cobb and her husband, Mate; two sons, Jerry D. Ivey and his wife, Charlotte, and Johnnie E. Ivey Sr. and his wife, Brenda; nine grandchildren, Mark Crandol, David Crandol, John Ivey, Michael Ivey, Paul Cobb, Jason Stancill, Kathleen Hartless, Laura Campbell and Margaret Toth; four sisters, Ruby I. Lockey, Melba I. Walters, Hazel I. Owens and Margaret I. Simmons; one brother, Stinson Ivey Jr.; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Burial was private. Memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity. Peninsula Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
