Famous Marines "Once a Marine, Always a Marine" "...the strength of the Corps is the Marine, the strength
of the Marine is the Corps."
|
This list is comprised of
people whose main fame comes from their life OUTSIDE their military service,
and
should not be confused with "Noteworthy Marines", although the two are not
mutually exclusive.
My father, his brother, and three uncles were in the Army.
My husband and an uncle were in the Navy.
Only my great uncle, Bill, was in the Marines.
But when I was two years old, I fell in love with the Corps.
Next to a newborn baby and a few select brides, what could be as gloriously
beautiful as a Marine in his dress blues?
Not much!
NOTE: This page is in the process of
being separated into smaller sections. This will allow for greater
stability,
ease of updating, and much faster uploading for you. Three of the four
sections are now laid out.
I have a long list of additions and corrections to add once this process is
completed. It's both tedious
and time consuming, and I apologize for any errors that may creep in during that
time period.
Thanks for your patience.

May I recommend
Lt. Colonel Harold W. "Indian Joe" Bauer, USMC (Deceased) for the Famous Marines
page.
He was killed in action during World War II, so he was not given the opportunity
to become famous after his service to our Nation.
He was awarded the Medal of Honor. His body was never recovered in
the Pacific.
He is a USNA graduate and played football there.
Here is a photo of him in uniform as a Captain.
- Joe Madagan
('57) of FL - 08/21/04
Certainly, Joe - thanks!
May I recommend that you consider former Secretary of State George Schultz, who also served in the USMC.
- Joe Madagan
('57) of FL - 08/21/04
Of course! Thanks, Joe!
Dear Carol.
Thanks for the great website. I
am looking for people who would like to help donate or raise awareness
of the
building of a
Fisher House at Palo Alto VA Hospital in California.
We are in need of $2.5 million
to accomplish this task. At this moment we have 5 Marines and many other
military members
who have served and were wounded during Operation Iraqi Freedom as well as
other conflicts.
If you know of anyone who would
like more information, please let me know. We are also looking for donations
for a
fundraising event held on May 14th in San Jose, CA which will benefit our
Fisher House project.
Blessings,

www.yourmorganhill.com for
letters to our wounded.

Ask me how you can support your military.
Thanks, Mary Ellen! We wish you well with your efforts. Hopefully you'll hear from some of our subscribers.
The United States Marine Corps Hymn
Words: L.Z.
Phillips (?) (1919)
Music: Jacques Offenbach from Genevieve de Brabant (1868)
From the Halls of Montezuma To the Shores of Tripoli; We fight our country's battles In the air, on land and sea; First to fight for right and freedom And to keep our honor clean; We are proud to claim the title of United States Marine. Our flag's unfurled to every breeze From dawn to setting sun; We have fought in ev'ry clime and place Where we could take a gun; In the snow of far-off Northern lands And in sunny tropic scenes; You will find us always on the job-- The United States Marines. Here's health to you and to our Corps Which we are proud to serve In many a strife we've fought for life And never lost our nerve; If the Army and the Navy Ever look on Heaven's scenes; They will find the streets are guarded By United States Marines.
